Lagree Nine

First class questions, answered

Everything below is the short answer first. If it is not here, call (626) 555 0148 — someone at the desk will pick up between classes.

01 What do I wear to my first class?

Leggings or shorts you can move in and a top that stays put when you are upside down. Grip socks are required — bring your own or buy a pair at the desk. Nothing baggy; the coach needs to see your knees and hips.

02 Do you have grip socks?

Yes, at the desk. They are the same ones the coaches wear and you keep them.

03 How early should I arrive?

Ten minutes before your first class, five after that. That is enough time to be shown the machine and set your springs without holding up the room.

04 What if I am late?

The door stays open for the first five minutes. After that we cannot let you in mid-sequence — the class is continuous and the entry point matters. The booking is not refunded, but call and we will usually move it.

05 Where do I park?

Street parking is free after 6pm; the Marengo garage is a four-minute walk.

06 What is the cancellation policy?

Cancel free up to 12 hours before; inside that the class comes off your pack.

07 Is Pilates good for back pain?

Often, and this is the class most physiotherapists in the area send people to — but the honest answer is that it depends on the cause. Book a private first so a coach can read your notes and build around the restriction rather than guessing in a group of nine.

08 What is the difference between reformer and mat Pilates?

A reformer adds springs, which means resistance you can measure and a carriage that will punish a sloppy line. Mat work uses only your own weight. Reformer is easier to learn well and harder to cheat.
