What Lagree is, and how we teach it
Lagree is resistance training performed slowly on a spring-loaded carriage, with no impact and no rest between exercises. That is the whole idea: keep the muscle under tension for the length of a set, and it does not need jumping, running or a heavy barbell to be hard. We teach it in a fixed order so that you can feel your own progress rather than take our word for it.
How the studio started
Lagree Nine opened in 2019 above a print shop on Raymond, with six machines and one coach teaching at six in the morning before her day job. The room next door came free two years later and became the studio floor you walk into now. Nothing about the number nine is decorative — it is how many machines one coach can reach, correct and re-spring inside forty-five minutes.
What we will not do
No leaderboards and no rankings on the wall. No class larger than nine, whatever the waitlist looks like. No shouting, and no coach who has not taught the class they are covering. Nothing is sold to you at the desk after class, ever — if a pack suits you better than a membership we will say so before you buy either.
The fastest way to understand any of this is forty-five minutes on the machine.
