We are asked this most often by people who have been to a studio with twenty machines in it and want to know what they are paying the difference for.
The arithmetic
A forty-five minute class has about thirty-eight minutes of working time in it. A correction — walk over, look, cue, change a spring, watch the next four reps — takes between forty and seventy seconds. Nine people gets everyone three or four corrections. Twelve gets them two. Twenty gets them one, if the coach never stops moving.
A tenth machine pays for itself in a month and costs every other person in the room a correction.
What we do instead of adding machines
We add classes. The timetable runs from six in the morning to eight at night on weekdays, which is how the room stays at nine without the waitlist becoming permanent. If a time you want is consistently full, tell us — that is the signal we use to add a class.
